The Great Gatsby Brings Its Roaring Twenties to Charlotte

The parties are lavish, but the longing is what keeps Gatsby alive. The musical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel comes to Belk Theater October 13–18, giving Charlotte audiences a Broadway-scale encounter with a story about ambition, reinvention and a love that refuses to stay in the past.

A familiar story, a new musical language

Jay Gatsby’s pursuit of Daisy Buchanan has carried the novel across generations. On stage, that tension finds a different vocabulary: music, movement and the spectacle of a world determined to keep celebrating.

The touring production is directed by Marc Bruni, with choreography by Dominique Kelley, a book by Kait Kerrigan and a jazz- and pop-influenced score by Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen. The tour’s official production page introduces the creative team behind the adaptation.

A week at Belk Theater

Presented by Blumenthal Arts as part of the PNC Broadway Lights Series, the Charlotte engagement includes evening and weekend matinee performances. Belk Theater gives the production a place in the heart of Uptown’s performing arts calendar.
