Where to Stay in Charlotte for Concerts, Theater and Live Events
A great Charlotte weekend can start with one ticket: a concert you have been waiting for, a Broadway production, or a night at a smaller music room. The hotel decision comes next—and the name “Charlotte” on a booking page only tells part of the story.
Start with the venue address, then choose the part of town that fits the rest of your visit. A central hotel can make a theater weekend feel easy. An amphitheater trip may call for a different base entirely. Here are four areas to consider, with direct hotel links to begin your search.
Uptown: a practical starting point for theater and arena nights
If your plans revolve around Belk Theater or Knight Theater, Uptown is a sensible place to begin. Blumenthal’s flagship Belk Theater sits on North Tryon Street, while Knight Theater belongs to the Levine Center for the Arts campus farther along South Tryon. Check the actual theater on your ticket; the two are separate destinations.
Grand Bohemian Charlotte, at 201 West Trade Street, is an option for travelers who want the hotel itself to be part of the occasion. Its art-focused interiors, Mico restaurant and Búho rooftop bar give a theater weekend a celebratory home base.
Hyatt House Charlotte/Center City, at 435 East Trade Street, is another Uptown option, especially worth comparing for a Spectrum Center visit. The hotel lists free breakfast and offers suites with kitchens, which may suit a longer stay or a weekend with more than one event.
These are neighborhood matches rather than promises of a particular walking time. Map the hotel entrance to your venue entrance before booking, and consider whether the route works for your mobility needs and return after the show. Use Blumenthal’s official visitor guide for theater directions and parking.
The Music Factory: plan the trip to the show
A ticket to The Fillmore Charlotte puts you at 820 Hamilton Street. For a show-centered weekend, an Uptown hotel is one option to compare if you also want restaurants and other city-center activities during the day.
The important step is planning the transfer. Do not assume that an Uptown address means a convenient walk to the Music Factory. Look at the route, allow time before doors, and agree on a return plan with your group. Check the Fillmore’s official site for current show information and visitor guidance.
If you are choosing between hotels, compare the total cost of the room plus transportation. A lower nightly rate can lose its appeal once two rides and parking charges enter the picture.
University City: consider it for Truliant Amphitheater
Truliant Amphitheater is at 707 Pavilion Boulevard, away from the Uptown theater district. If that concert is the main reason for your trip, University City deserves a look before you automatically book downtown.
Hilton Charlotte University Place offers a lakeside setting in University City. Its official site lists Truliant Amphitheater among nearby destinations, making it a useful property to compare for an amphitheater-focused stay.
You will still need to arrange transportation to the venue. A hotel’s proximity listing does not establish a suitable pedestrian route or a shuttle service. Review Truliant Amphitheater’s official information for your event and build in time for arrival and departure.
SouthPark: an option when the weekend goes beyond the venue
If shopping and dining are a substantial part of the visit, SouthPark offers another base to consider. It involves traveling to the show, so weigh that tradeoff against how you want to spend the rest of the weekend.
Hampton Inn & Suites Charlotte/SouthPark at Phillips Place is near Phillips Place and SouthPark Mall and lists free hot breakfast. The hotel places itself eight miles from Uptown and lists Bojangles Coliseum six miles away. Treat it as a stay with a planned drive or ride to the venue rather than a hotel at the venue’s doorstep.
Before you book
Compare the full stay price, including taxes, parking and transportation, and read the cancellation terms for the rate you select. If you need an accessible room, confirm its specific features with the hotel. If you are arriving close to showtime, check whether check-in and luggage arrangements fit your plan.
Rates and availability change with dates and demand, so this guide does not assign fixed price tiers. The hotel examples are selected as starting points based on location and their published facilities, rather than personal stays or inspected-room reviews.
