Bikini Babes Swim Week Makes Its Charlotte Debut at VAPA
Bikini Babes Swim Week made its Charlotte debut on Friday, October 9, 2026, bringing its swimwear showcase to the VAPA Center on North Tryon Street. Queen City Backstage was there, with Scott Jelleyman of A&J Creative Photography documenting the runway.
The arrival gave Charlotte another occasion to put fashion in front of a live audience—and brought a swimwear-focused event into a venue built around the city’s creative community.
A runway platform for local and national talent
In its official event listing, Bikini Babes Swim Week promoted a program featuring 100 models and 20 designers, alongside live entertainment, vendors, music and networking. Those figures describe the organizer’s advertised lineup, rather than an independently verified count of Friday’s participants.
The event’s stated focus was to support local and national talent as designers presented their newest swimwear collections. That combination placed the runway within a broader gathering: a chance for designers, models, photographers and fashion audiences to connect around the work.
For a first Charlotte appearance, that introduction matters. A runway offers designers a public setting for their collections, while giving participating models and creative teams an opportunity to be seen together. The debut established a Charlotte chapter for the event without needing to promise what comes next.
An arts-centered setting
The Visual and Performing Arts Center, better known as VAPA, was created in 2021 by 12 founding arts organizations. Its purpose is to provide space where artists can create, practice, exhibit and perform, and to strengthen the relationship between artists and the community.
That mission gives a fashion showcase a fitting home. Clothing design and runway presentation bring together several creative disciplines, from garment construction and styling to performance and photography. Hosting the show at 700 North Tryon Street placed those disciplines within one of Charlotte’s established arts spaces.
Beyond the runway
The organizer also listed an official after-party at ANTHM Night Club for later Friday evening, extending the event’s plans beyond the fashion presentation.
For Queen City Backstage, the Charlotte debut is a moment to document: a visiting fashion event introducing itself to the city, with local and national creative talent at the center of its stated mission.
